Sorry for the belated announcement. Received this information last night...

Jim Tammen is our IEA UniServ Director out of Marion. Most of you met Jim during our protracted strike of 2002. You "newbies" probably met him in his mentoring role. Nancy of course is FACs teacher (aka Home Ec) at CJSHS.

Our condolences go out to Jim, Nancy, and the rest of the family...


Our hearts are saddened by the passing of Jim Tammen's Mother, Jeanne Tammen, on Friday evening. Visitation and funeral information is listed below for your convenience. Obituary
Jeanne Tammen

Gridley - Jeanne Tammen, 85, of rural Gridley, IL passed away at 10:08 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 2008 at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington, IL.

She was born Erma Jeanne Kingdon on March 1, 1923 in El Paso, IL a daughter of Alfred and Hazel Wilkey Kingdon. She married John Tammen on September 26, 1948 in El Paso, IL. He survives.

Survivors include one son, Jim (Nancy) Tammen of Marion, IL; one daughter, Karen (Paul) Morin of St. Charles, MO; six grandchildren, Kim Morin; Cary Tammen; Lindsey (Joseph) Mansfield; Kelly (Denny) Summerfield; Nathan Tammen; Kyle Morin; and two great-grandchildren, Hannah Summerfield and Parker Mansfield.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one brother, Marvin Kingdon.

Jeanne graduated from the Mennonite school of nursing and worked at the Mennonite Hospital. She also worked at various other nursing positions.

Achieving the rank of 2nd Lieutenant, Jeanne served her country with the United States Army as a nurse during WWII.

She was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in El Paso where funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 28, 2008. The Rev. Bobby Niemtschk will officiate. Visitation will be held on Monday evening from 5-8 p.m. at Ruestman-Harris Funeral Home in El Paso and one hour prior to the service at her church. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in El Paso.
