AND IT'S ONE, TWO...

...three strikes you're out at the old ball game.

Well, if we are going to have baseball analogies, I guess we need to give a bow to Yogi Berra and acknowledge that "It ain't over until it's over."

The stubborn as a Missouri mule Attorney General Chris Koster has taken it to the limit...

...filing an appeal with the United States Supreme Court to stop plans by the Army Corps of Engineers to blow the Birds Point Levee under agreements drafted and signed back after the Flood of 1927.

Well, good luck on that!

But, consider...

The Attorney General of Missouri is first and foremost a politician...has to demonstrate to his constituency that he pulls out all stops...leaves no stone unturned to save his people. By this action, Chris Koster is preempting any second-guessing from his people that "You should have appealed to the Supreme Court...why didn't you appeal to the Supreme Court?"

He now has...he now has maneuvered a win-win position for his political career.

The Supreme Court will stop the blast...or not.

Regardless...he tried.

Illinois AG calls Missouri filing 'unfortunate'

CAIRO, Ill. (AP) - Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan says Missouri is making "yet another unfortunate and legally unjustified attempt" at keeping federal authorities from protecting Illinoisans.

Missouri Attorney General Chris Koster asked the U.S. Supreme Court on Sunday to block federal officials from destroying a Mississippi River levee as they try to prevent flooding in the small Illinois city of Cairo.

Madigan says Sunday that her office will "fight this effort every step of the way." Madigan says she'll "keep working to protect" Illinoisans.

Koster's filing came after a federal appeals court on Saturday rejected his bid to stop the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from blowing a two-mile hole into the Birds Point levee in southeast Missouri.
