This Memorandum of Understanding re: Grandfathering of Payroll Balance of Yearly Pay is entered into as a supplement to the terms of the new successor Agreement between the Cairo Association of Teachers, IEA-NEA and the Board of Education of the Cairo School District.

According to the new successor Agreement, Article 4.3 Payroll Installments states that teachers may select whether to be paid on the basis of twenty-four (24) or eighteen (18) equal payments. The new Agreement removes language from the prior Agreement which had allowed some teachers to request the balance of their yearly pay on the first pay day following the last day of school, under certain conditions.

To supplement the language in the new Agreement, the parties agree that for the particular teacher who had, prior to the date of May 20, 2015, already historically been requesting and receiving the balance of their yearly pay on the first payday following the last day of school, such teachers shall be "grandfathered" and allowed to continue that practice, for this Agreement.
