CAT Tracks for January 29, 2019

The Cairo Board of Education held its Rescheduled Regular Meeting on Tuesday, January 29, at 6 p.m.

CAT President's Report:

Call to order 6:00.

Coleman, Stubblefield, Gooden, Harris, Nelson, Moore present.

Examples of Excellence:

  • CES Principal Regina Brown: MAP gains at every level and fewer write-ups. Teacher Serina Nelson's 6th Grade class gave presentations on science, math, class elections, and food bags for Childhood World Food Hunger Day. The students spoke.

  • CJSHS Principal Lisa Thomas: Improvements in attendance, behavior/write-ups, and academics.

Ryan Dodd from Baysinger Architects informed the BOE about the need for a new roof for CJSHS. Tracy Bode also explained about patching the roof constantly. There was much discussion.

Amy Farrow made a presentation for Southern Bank. Would like to bid on acquisition of some accounts.

Superintendent Andrea Evers tabled the discussion on staffing needs.

Virtual Reality labs will be looked into for both buildings.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 7:45. The BOE voted to exit closed session at 8:45.

No actions were taken by the BOE following closed session.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 8:46.
