CAT Tracks for July 15, 2019

The Cairo Board of Education held a Special Meeting (which included an announced public forum) on Monday, July 15th in the Cairo Junior/Senior High School cafeteria for the purpose of receiving testimony concerning uniforms and then voting on whether to keep and/or modify the policy.

CAT President's Report:

Roll call at 5:30 p.m. All members present.

A good crowd was in attendance. Chairs were set up in the cafeteria. Parents were checked off as they entered and given ballot to vote whether 'for or against' uniforms. Parents went the podium to speak.

The results of the vote by parents attending was 18 against and 31 for uniforms.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:50 p.m.

The BOE voted to exit closed session at 7:44 p.m.

A motion was made by Superintendent Andrea Evers to have four days of uniforms each week and a dress-down day on Fridays. Vote passed.

Another motion was made to add black trousers to uniforms. It also passed with the stipulation that there would be trousers, no leggings or yoga pants.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 8:06 p.m..

Postscript: The Superintendent's evaluation was canceled for tomorrow night. It is to be done at a later date.
