HAPPY HOLIDAYS FROM CAT |
Last night's meeting of the Cairo School District Number One Board of Education was not just Ho HUM...
...it was BAH HUMBUG!
The Superintendent did NOT recommend the $50 "Christmas bonus" that had been given to employees the past two years...
...years not marked by pandemic and economic crisis. Rumor has it that the reason for not doing so, well, let's just say it was of the "passing the buck" variety.
The Cairo Association of Teachers does not have millions of dollars sitting in the bank like CSD #1 (still #1 in local school district finances you may have heard.) So it cannot duplicate the District's previous largess.
However, in an effort to boost morale during these turbulent times, CAT has decided to pretty much empty its meager bank account by giving a $25 holiday bonus to all District employees...
...with 5 exceptions. Those exceptions are the Superintendent (who allegedly thinks bonuses are too much trouble), the CAT President (who voluntarily excluded herself), and three employees (who chose a bigger bonus - i.e. membership dues - thereby not contributing to the funds needed to finance the holiday bonus.)
So, make it a point to see De De O'Shea...
...she's got a little sumthin' sumthin' for your holiday stocking..
