CSD REGULAR BOE MEETING...AGENDA PLUS

The Cairo Board of Education held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, April 21st, at 6 p.m.

The CAT President's report:

Called to order at 6:01 p.m.

Members present: Stubblefield, Moore, Harris, Tarver, McAllister, Coleman, and Nelson. Superintendent Rice and Financial Officer Blake were also present.

No Examples of Excellence.

No one addressed the board.

Approved Agenda Item #4.

Superintendent Information:

  • IAR testing almost complete.

  • CHS graduation will be Saturday, May 14th at 10 a.m.

  • 8th Grade graduation will be Saturday, May 14th at 12 p.m.

  • The Junior Class sponsor, Romello Orr, spoke about the prom. No decision was made. Further discussion will be had. (The Junior-Senior prom is tentatively scheduled for April 30th at 7 p.m.)

  • Summer school will be from June 13th to July 8th at Cairo Elementary.

The BOE voted to enter Closed Session at 7:15 p.m.

    At 10:25, Ronnie Woods went into closed session to speak about a project to retrieve pictures of former CHS graduates so that students can appreciate the celebrities they have become. It will not only be in sports, but people such as Chris Jackson also who have become very successful in their lives. The project will be called the Distinguished Alumni Association.

The BOE voted to exit Closed Session at 11:20 p.m.

Actions/Decision by BOE:

  • Item #1 was tabled.

  • Item #2 was approved.

  • Item #3 was tabled.

  • Item #4, A and B, was approved.

There will be a Special BOE Meeting on May 4th at 5:30 p.m.

There will be a Public Meeting on May 5th at 5:30.

The Regular BOE Meeting for May will be on May 12th at 6 p.m.

The BOE voted to adjourn at 11:30 p.m.

    This old CAT bailed long before then. Waaaaaaay past my bedtime.

    But, true to my old ways, I was up and at 'em at 4:30 a.m. catching up on my duties. (Yeah, it used to be 2:30 a.m., but...)

    Anyway, TGIF, you working CATs.
