The Cairo Board of Education held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, December 15th, at 6 p.m.

The CAT President's Report:

Called to order at 6:00 p.m.

Members present: Stubblefield, McAllister, Tarver, Nelson, Harris, Coleman, and Taylor. Also present were Dr. Rice, Dr. Ferrell, secretary Beagle.

Item 2: Mr. Blissett, Dean of Students CES, read the names of students of the month.

Item 3: None

Item 4: Approved

Item 5:

  1. Enrichment program - 80+ students at CES. 10-12 students at CJHS/CHS.

  2. There was some discussion about the GEO report. More information is needed.

  3. HVAC to be delivered in January.

  4. Staff was treated to holiday lunch.

  5. Skipped.

Mrs. Clark asked to announce student of the month...Armani Horton.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 6:25 p.m.

The BOE voted to exit closed session at 9:45 p.m.

Items under closed session were all approved, except Items #2 & #14, which were tabled.

  • Item #1 was the resignation of Dr. Rice as Superintendent, effective December 31, 2022.

  • Item #3 was hiring of Dr. Ferrell as superintendent.

Julian Howard, President of the PTO spoke under Old Business. He presented a picture of the proposed mascot for the district:

The BOE voted to adjourn at 10:00 p.m.
