CAT Tracks for November 1, 2024 A SIN AND A SHAME

After the feds took out the two housing projects, they turned their attention on Cairo's "high rise".

Granted, the "projects" had problems, problems that locals AND the feds covered up for decades. But, the high rise? They had just spent money to fix the elevator. There was nothing substantially wrong with the high rise and it provided serviceable housing for Cairo's seniors and low income residents.

Oh, yeah, I forgot the given reason for said closure. The high rise was not built to withstand earthquakes...especially "the big one"! It might fall down and kill its occupants. Well, hell, the locals quickly called BS on that, to no avail. The high rise had withstood all that mother nature had thrown at it through the years, earthquakes and floods.

The BIG ONE?

Here in Kayro, we have known forever that if the New Madrid faultline ever does its long-awaited thing, we're on our way down the Mississippi River to New Orleans.

Oh well, the feds are evidently keeping their promise...

...to tear down the high rise, leave another vacant space in Cairo.
