CAT Tracks for July 30, 2024 TRS RETIREE RETURN TO WORK PROGRAM

Yep, school districts in Illinois are still struggling to fill certain subject shortage areas. Therefore, the program that allows retirees to come back and teach full time, get paid the prevailing salary AND continue to receive their full well-earned pension is being extended until June 30, 2027.

Note: There are many hoops to jump through (well, step gingerly through, wouldn't want to fall and break a hip!) But, if you are one of these hard-to-find/get people and are bored with retirement, or truly need the boost in income, go for it!

Me?

I am truly blessed in that my pension (currently, fingers crossed) pays my bills and allows me to take an annual trip with friends (other thankful CSD pensioners!)

Plus, if you think late 70s or early 80s is too old to serve as President of the United States of America, well, don't even think about TEACHING in the modern educational environment.

So, NO, I'll take a hard pass on joining the ranks of the employed.

...got a busy day of reading, working a jigsaw puzzle, and watching grass grow. Oh, and don't forget napping!
