The Cairo Board of Education held a Regular Meeting on Thursday, August 15th, beginning at 6:00 p.m.

CAT President's Report:
Members present: Taylor, Coleman, Nelson, Stubblefield, Tarver, Howard, and Matthews. Also present were Interim Superintendent Ferrell and Secretary Valerie Hall.
Called to order at 6:00 p.m.
Item 2 - Both principals gave short reports on the beginning of the year.
Item 3 - Maria Watkins gave a report on taxes going up both this year and next. She also inquired about the school levy going up and asked reasons for the increase.
Item 4 - Approved with some corrections.
Item 5 - Superintendent gave a brief report of each item listed.
Item 6 - Brief discussion of each topic.
The BOE voted to enter closed session at 7:25 p.m.
The BOE voted to exit closed session at 10:20 p.m.
Actions taken:
- Approved Items 3-5.
- Item 6 - Rose Pickett hired as part-time teacher at CES for 2024-2025 school year.
- Approved Items 7-15.
- Approved Items 17,19, 20. (Note: Item 17 - District Business Secretary position renamed Business Office Clerk.)
The BOE voted to adjourn at 10:30 p.m.
