Okay, so maybe nobody ever called the Connell F. Smith Sr. Building (aka the High Rise) paradise, but...

...it was a blessing for people with a low income, seniors, and people with disabilities.


As you probably know, the federal government decided that Cairo was in danger of getting hit by a magnitude 7.0 earthquake and that the walls would come tumbling down. Having such care and concern for the residents (drip, drip, dripping sarcasm!), HUD ordered its demolition.

Did they replace it with something that would house those whom they so unceremoniously evicted?

Well, I took a proverbial Sunday afternoon drive and went down to see...
