JAMES GIBSON HEARING...DAY TWO

Began at 8:30 a.m. and concluded at 8:30 p.m.

A long day, but the judge indicated at the beginning that it was her desire to finish the hearing today if at all possible. She got her wish.

Yes, the hearing is over...there is no tomorrow!

The witnesses who testified today, in the order of their appearance...

Do not hold your breath for a decision.

Briefs by the attorneys will probably not be completed and submitted for 2 to 3 months. Then the judge will be given ample time to review the materials and render a decision.

So, stay tuned...

Three final comments...

  • The "complainants" (aka CAT and James Gibson) feel good about their presentation. The witnesses presented compelling testimony of their allegations, supported by extensive documentation. Also, there were no "surprises" from the "respondents" (aka Cairo School District Number One.)

  • In any legal dispute, there is always the possibility of a negotiated settlement...prior to a decision by the judge. A prime time for such an event is AFTER the hearing/trial. (Before the hearing/trial, hope springs eternal...that you will surprise even yourself with a strong case OR that your opponent will fail miserably. As of 8:30 p.m. Wednesday evening, each side has seen "the cards on the table". All that is left to be played is the hole card...the final brief. The question to be considered now is "Do I gamble on 'all or nothing', or do I try to cut my losses?"

Okay, that's it!

Uh...thought you said three final comments. I only count TWO.

Okay, okay, I was trying to be nice...trying not to be catty for a change.

However, since you insist...since you have twisted my tail, I shall make one further observation.

The little house on the prairie is still vacant tonight...
