CAIRO HIGH SCHOOL BETA CLUB |
They're everywhere, they're everywhere!!!
Whether you're leafing through the pages of The Cairo Citizen (when they are not on the front page!), attending the Cairo Board of Education meeting, attending the Cairo Financial Oversight Panel meeting, watching the Channel 12 Six O'Clock News, surfing the Internet, driving past Cairo High School, well, bears repeating...
The Cairo High School Beta Club is everywhere!!!
And, it's a good thing.
For YEARS, Cairoites would hear of the positive exploits of neighboring school districts, but not Cairo. It was like we didn't exist...
Well, no more!
Thanks to Cairo High School Beta Club Sponsor Ryan O'Shea and his high profile set of energetic students, Cairo has something for which to be mighty proud.
Keep up the good works kids...you are making a significant difference!

Cairo High School students work to make roads safer
By Carly O'Keefe
Cairo, IL (KFVS) - Some students at Cairo High School are doing their part to keep southern Illinois roads safe.
Members of the school Beta Club came up with an Operation Teen Safe Driving campaign that's aimed at curbing distracted driving.
The slogan of their campaign: "Subtract Distractions from your Life". The students recently gave a presentation to Illinois State Police and local authorities and were selected to receive a $2000 grant from the Illinois Department of Transportation Division of Traffic Safety and the Allstate Foundation to keep their efforts going.
The Cairo Operation Teen Safe Driving presentation will now compete with other schools in the region for the grand prize. Cairo is one of 15 schools in southern Illinois selected to compete for the grand prize. Schools in each region will face off to see who can develop the best safety presentation. The winning school from each of the state's seven regions will each receive $2500 in prize money to host a post-prom party.
