CAT Tracks for February 18, 2010 WPSD TV PROMOTES BOE MEETING

Just got an e-mail...

...from a CAT who watches the early morning local news on WPSD TV Channel 6.

They were reminding viewers of the "public hearing" to be held tonight by the Cairo Board of Education concerning the restructuring of the District - i.e. the closing of Bennett Elementary.

In my catty comments yesterday about the AGENDA for tonight's meeting (reminding readers of Superintendent Swopes' announcement on WPSD TV on February 3rd), I noted the agenda item for "action", but the lack of any provision for "discussion".

Hopefully, WPSD TV will send a crew to cover the meeting...REMIND the Superintendent/BOE of their commitment to DISCUSS the matter in open session, thereby avoiding a violation of the Illinois Open Meetings Act!

DAMN, I love being on the "cutting edge"!

First, AFT President Randi Weingarten...now, the Cairo BOE Meeting!
