CAIRO PHOTOGRAPHY PROJECT

The second-to-the-last week in April begins with the April 19th annual Cairo School District K-12 Art Exhibit and culminates with the April 24th Cairo photography project.

Mark your calendars...

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Thou shalt have to pardon the rumpled appearance of today's posts from my copy of The Cairo Citizen. (In addition to the one above, there were three posts to the City of Cairo - Government page.)

As the United States Post Office ponders cutting Saturday from its delivery week, I have an alternative suggestion. I know that USPS is proud of its unofficial slogan that "Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow, nor gloom of night..." will stay their courageous couriers from their appointed rounds, but...

When it rains (or even drizzles) in Cairo, it might be best to NOT deliver the mail that day. And...if that day should happen to be a Monday-Friday, they could use Saturday as a "make-up" day.

I mean...what good does it really do to get your mail on the appointed day if you have to set it aside for a day to dry?!

BTW...

One version of the USPS slogan included "heat". Got a problem with THAT too.

I grow weary of receiving "rained on" mail during hot, sunny days in August...mail ruined by the condensation from apparently frozen bottles of water carried in the mail sack.

Don't get me wrong...if I were a mail carrier, I'd take cold liquid refreshment with me also.

However, one of two things...

Keep the cool waters...in a cooler...in the mail truck. Take a good healthy sip when you park the truck, put the drink back in the cooler, and deliver the hot and dry mail. Repeat process at the next stop.

Or...somebody at USPS, PLEASE, invent a sippy cup that attaches to the outside of the carrier's bag so that cool drinks AND dry mail can peacefully coexist.

I'm just sayin', Dawg!
