CAT Tracks for April 1, 2010 ACT THE FOOL

...is what I'm gonna do, when the Census worker pounds on my door!

On the Ides of March, I received and completed my 2010 Census form...even posted a CAT Tracks Edition encouraging others to follow my sterling example.

A coupla weeks before that, I had received the "heads up" notice, alerting me that my 2010 Census form would be arriving soon.

A coupla weeks after I completed and mailed my 2010 Census form, I got the "reminder" notice...that I had received my 2010 Census form and to be sure to fill it out and return it.

Then...yesterday, I got a 2nd copy of the original 2010 Census form mailing, like it had never happened...back on March 15th.

I don't know why I'm telling you all of this, because...you got yours too!

FOUR (4) mailings to every household in the United States...

I'm sure that if one were to inquire, the United States government would kindly explain that it's cheaper to do mass mailings to everyone than to hire someone to "mark off" those who returned their original census form in a timely manner and only do mailings to those who have not responded/complied.

However...

It makes me wonder...worry. If someone "out there" is NOT marking off the people who are returning their census forms, what's going to happen when the deadline for compliance passes and the census workers are ordered to hit the streets?

Are the census workers going to hit every residence in the community or are they going to limit themselves to surgical strikes against those in noncompliance?

If it is the former...

I'm gonna snap!

And that goes double if some fool calls my unlisted phone number...inquiring as to whether I have sent in my 2010 Census form!!!

In person, I might bite my catty tongue and issue a simple "Yes, I sent in my form" and softly shut the door.
