THE BRITISH INVASION

To arms, to arms...

I don't know that John, Paul, George, and Ringo would have been welcome in Cairo back in the "Good Old Days". They would have probably been burned along with their records/albums after John Lennon made the comment about The Beatles being more popular than Jesus.

Cairoites are famous for being in complete denial of their sordid past and still ain't fond of "outside agitators" who dare to speak the truth, uh, spread all those lies, lies, damnable lies.

I fear the reception for British filmmakers Jacob Cartwright and Nick Jordan, if only for the following paragraph from the first article below...

Ahhh...

"Downtown Cairo"...gone but not forgotten. Hell, memorialized in film!

If the local populace felt disrespected by Stace England's point-on depiction of Cairo's history set to music in the CD "Greetings From Cairo, Illinois" or by the SIU School of Journalism's "The Cairo Project", well, hell, these two British filmmakers may get a first-hand history lesson of "The American Revolution"...Cairo Style.

If Jacob and Nick are lucky, they will be disappointed by the small but friendly crowd that tends to show up for Cairo "cultural events".

A large turnout would be ominous...
