REMINDER - VOLUNTARY TRANSFER |
Last night's BOE meeting...in which the BOE authorized the Superintendent to post vacancies created by two resignations...reminded me to remind you that there has been a change in the contract...a change that greatly reduces the timeline for current employees to lay claim to vacated positions.
Namely:
3.4 Voluntary Staff Transfer*
Written requests made for voluntary transfer in the first paragraph should be made within ten (10) working days of the initial posting of the vacancy through employee paychecks. The voluntary transfer shall be granted unless the administration provides documentation to the Association that the administration cannot fill the volunteer’s vacated position but can fill the original position.
In the event that more than one employee requests transfer to an existing teaching vacancy as identified in Section 3.3 of this Agreement, the Board has the authority to choose the most qualified employee amongst those making said requests.
*Part-time employees are excluded from Section 3.4.
So...
When you receive your paychecks...be sure to review the vacancy listing!
If you are TENURED and you see a position advertised that you would like to have, IMMEDIATELY put your desire IN WRITING to BOTH the building principal AND the superintendent. (The safest thing to do is to hand deliver the WRITTEN NOTICE, have someone official date the WRITTEN NOTICE, and have her/him make a copy of your WRITTEN NOTICE...for you. Things do get lost...)
Yes, you have ten (10) business days, BUT...DAY ONE is one of those days. Good things may come to those who wait, but forgetfulness often accompanies procrastination.
Foretold is forewarned...
Any qualified tenured employee who received at least a satisfactory rating in his/her two most recent evaluations may request transfer to an existing teaching vacancy as identified in Section 3.3 of this Agreement. Such request shall be in writing to the Superintendent and the building principal where the vacancy exists.
