RURAL RENEWAL |
...Cairo style.
As long as the arsonists stick with abandoned buildings and no one gets hurt...it's the same effect as a "controlled burn".
Unfortunately, luck has a tendency to run out...
What amazes me most about the years of "suspicious" fires is the brazenness - call it the audacity of hopelessness - that most of these fires were set in the light of day. No skulking in the dark for these arsonists, yet no witnesses.
So, the question remains...whose luck will run out first?
The arsonists...or the innocent bystanders.

Crews fight "suspicious" fire in Cairo
By Heartland News
CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - Four fire departments fought a fire that investigators are calling "suspicious" Friday in Cairo.
It's a vacant home on 27th and Poplar streets next door to Mt. Moriah Church, which is also vacant.
No one was hurt, and police have no suspects.
This is the latest in a string of house fires in Cairo.
The last Cairo vacant house fire Heartland News reported happened in late June with another one in April.
There have been a number of other similar incidents over the past few years.
No word yet if Friday's fire is connected to any of those.
