CAT Tracks for September 10, 2009
SPECIAL BOE MEETINGS

The Cairo Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Friday evening, September 11, 2009 at 5 p.m. that will reconvene on Saturday morning, September 12, 2009 at 9 a.m.

Below is the notice and agenda...

(Some typical catty comments follow the agenda. If you are of a Pollyanna persuasion and wish to remain positive about the new school year, then do not read any further than "VIII. ADJOURN...")

WARNING:

If you don't like negativity...if you don't like "editorializing to heighten emotion", turn back now...

As promised...

(Anticipated) Minutes:

The meeting was called to order at 5 p.m.

No Employees or Public were present.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the agenda.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 5:03 p.m.

Only one chair was overturned as the members made for the buffet line.

At 6 p.m. (following appetizers and entrées), the "question" was put forth for discussion..."How do you rate the performance of the Cairo Board of Education during the 2008-2009 School Year?"

A member volunteered..."I think we done good."

There were nods of heads...and wiping of lips.

After some sipping of water and clearing of throats, there were murmurs of agreement that by stiffing the teachers, by creating two new administrative positions in defiance of the FOP, and by refusing to negotiate with the secretaries, aides, and custodians who are still without a contract for two years running...that they had indeed outdone themselves!

Many beaming smiles...much laughter.

When no further evaluations were offered, a motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the "WE DONE GOOD" evaluation.

The President then asked..."Is there any other business to be brought before the Board?"

The incredulous response was "What about dessert?"

A motion was hastily made, seconded, and passed at 6:15 p.m. to end the meeting and begin dessert.

CAT Tracks Editor's Note: I would report on Saturday's meeting, but the breakfast and lunch menus were not available at press time.

Stay tuned...

Postscript: For a brief shining moment, I thought we were going to have a CNN - CAT News Network Bulletin...rumors of a disagreement or fight among the members. However, upon further investigation, it turns out that the reported "beef", well...It's What's for Dinner!"
