The Cairo Board of Education will hold a Special Meeting on Friday, January 7, 2011 at 5 p.m. Below is the notice and agenda...

Yep, FRIDAY night...a special treat for those of us who don't have a life!

Then again...the holidays are over...bills, bills, bills...not to mention the extra special treat provided by Alexander County...allowing us to pay our real estate taxes on December 10th and January 10th rather than in September and October (like it was back in the "good old days".)

January 7th...a week into the new year without a free meal...makes one weak!

As for the topic: Discussing/setting/approving the Superintendent's performance goals?

If one were catty, one might suggest:

KISS...Keep It Simple Stupid.

You know...

1. Do not break federal, state, or local law - e.g. trespassing on private (church) property trying to nab a (now former "paid off") employee working...when you refused to honor said employee's doctor's note to return to work with light duty.)

2. Do not break existing union contracts - e.g. as rules for Personal Leave, Association Leave, or Sick Leave when you yourself have been "rumored" to depart early on Fridays and to use various days to extend to extend weekends and holidays.

3. See #1 and #2 above.

Okay, got the silly stuff out of the way...

...time to get down to serious business!
