SPECIAL BOE MEETING...MINUTES |
Well, hell...so much for my "sleeping on it"...figuring out that tonight's BOE meeting was about the BOE negotiating a new contract with the Superintendent.
In brief...
The Special Meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. with all BOE members present. No employees or public asked to be recognized. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the agenda as presented. The BOE then voted to enter closed session at 6:06 p.m., exiting at 6:46 p.m.
The BOE voted to approve their negotiating team. The new BOE negotiating team is the same one they ended with last time...Mary Colemen, Artie McBride, and Vernon Stubblefield. New BOE Member Gabriel Harris is the alternate.
A motion was made, seconded, and passed to adjourn at 6:48 p.m.
CAT Tracks Editor's Note:
I'm sorry, but this news makes me pissy rather than catty...
Last time around, we (meaning the CAT) tried pushing for an early start to negotiations...hoping that we would be rewarded with a newly ratified agreement by the end of the school year. Instead, our efforts results in the "never-ending negotiations"...something like 35 effing sessions...nit-picking over language items ad nauseum...and ending up with "chump change" while the District maintained its nest egg of $2.5 million in the First National Bank (which could have been even flusher if they had not paid "Robbers All" a quarter of a million dollars to fight James Gibson...and just recently paying Lorenzo Nelson to go away.)
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, the other three unions had to wait it out...maintaining the "tradition" of settling with the teachers first. I bet those unions are chomping at the bit to start negotiating again...took them like two effing years last time! Hell, the ink ain't even dry on their latest contract...
Okay...I said I was pissy!
After I take enough medication to calm down, I will endeavor to "sleep on it" some more.
Stay tuned...
Postscript:
What?
Still waiting for the catty commentary...
