Traffic being rerouted on Interstate 57 at Cairo
By Heartland News
CAIRO, IL (KFVS) - Interstate 57 in Southern Illinois is back open after a huge pothole created a serious traffic problem.
Thursday afternoon Illinois State Police started rerouting northbound traffic at the one exit because of the pothole.
Captain Harry Massey says the pothole had rebar sticking out of it and that caused a number of vehicles to get flat tires.
Traffic was reduced to one lane in the area
State Police are rerouted traffic onto route 37 north. The Illinois department of transportation came out and fixed the problem.
