Two killed in Monday night accident on Illinois 3
BY STEPHEN RICKERL, The Southern
ALEXANDER COUNTY - Illinois State Police have named the victims of a deadly crash along Illinois 3 in Alexander County Monday night.
The three-vehicle fatal crash, which occurred at approximately 6 p.m. involved a pick-up truck driven by Allen Ray Parker, Jr., 18, of Cape Girardeau.
He was travelling southbound on Illinois State Route 3, just north of Thebes. Travelling northbound were two vehicles; the first, a passenger car driven by Heather M. Miller, 20, of Lancaster, Wis. Behind the passenger car was a mini-van, driven by Rose N. Johnson-Wiggins, 54, of Cairo.
The preliminary investigation reveals that the pick-up truck and passenger car sideswiped. The pick-up truck and the mini-van then collided head-on. Parker and Johnson-Wiggins died of injuries sustained in the crash.
The crash is currently under investigation, and the cause has yet to be determined.
