CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Received an e-mail from an unofficial (but reliable) source on Thursday evening that there has been a modification of locations for next week's high school boys basketball regional originally scheduled to be played in Goreville.

Cairo's games will be play at Anna-Jonesboro; games not involving Cairo will be played in Goreville.

The Illinois High School Association on Thursday announced scheduling changes for the Class 1A boys basketball regional tournament to be hosted by Goreville after a racially charged incident following a game at Goreville between Cairo and the host Blackcats Monday.

Goreville will still host the regional, which begins Feb. 21, but any game played by Cairo will be hosted at Anna-Jonesboro's high school. The Pilots will play Cobden at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 in Anna.

If Cairo wins, it will play the winner between Goreville and Dongola at 7:30 p.m. Feb. 23 in Anna.

IHSA Executive Director Marty Hickman issued the following statement Thursday:

"Regrettably, two students from Goreville High School took it upon themselves to harass the coaches, players and cheerleaders from Cairo High School as their bus began its trip home. This unprovoked attempt to intimidate or incite those on the Cairo High School bus is inexcusable.

"While we appreciate the strong and aggressive action taken by Goreville High School with regard to these students, we believe that the prudent thing to do is to move any games involving Cairo High School to another site for the time being," he continued.
