Fire burns 2 homes in Cairo early this morning
CAIRO, IL (KFVS) – Firefighters in Cairo had their hands full once again this morning as 2 homes went up in flames.
Crews from at least Cairo and Mounds were called to 414 George St. to fight the fires early Tuesday morning.
By 3 a.m. the house at 414 George was destroyed and the home next to it at 416 George was damaged by fire.
According to the chief of the Cairo Fire Department, people do live in both homes, but no one was home at 414 George. The people who lived in 416 George were able to get out unharmed.
There is also no preliminary cause for either of the fires.
Cairo has been plagued by fires over the last couple of years. The most recent was 1 week ago this morning when a home on the 2200 block of Dr Martin Luther King Ave burned to the ground.
The vacant home on MLK was considered a total loss and is being considered suspicious.
