Under the circumstances, you may have thought I was sending out the universal distress signal...MAYDAY, MAYDAY, MAYDAY...that me and my fellow Cairo residents had finally thrown in the towel.

Well, on second thought, you CATs out there probably read my subject line for exactly what it is...because I know that Madam CAT President has been receiving calls from concerned members..."What about Friday's paychecks?" since school is closed for (at least) the rest of the week.

Without further ado:

Teachers with direct deposit...you will see your check hit your bank at the regular time.

Teachers who receive a paper check...the checks have been run, but have NOT as yet been signed. Business Manager Justin Miller is in the process of trying to arrange for said signatures by the proper parties. As soon as they are signed, they will be available for pick-up...YES, as early as this afternoon. However, don't beat the door down because he cannot distribute the checks until they are signed. The office is open this afternoon until 4:30 p.m. If you are going to try today, I would delay my arrival until closer to 4 p.m. than now. The best bet would be to wait until Wednesday beginning at 9 a.m. (In fact, if you are traveling any significant distance, you might want to call ahead.) Any checks not picked up by NOON WEDNESDAY will be mailed.

BTW: The checks are dated April 29th (the regular pay date.) Cashing the checks before the 29th will be between you and your bank (some will and some won't. The District does not care.)

A big "Thank You" should go out to CAT President De De O'Shea for anticipating and asking about the checks (even before you called) and District Business Manager Justin Miller for being on top of it before even being asked.

If only all other dealings between the CAT and CSD #1 worked so smoothly. Hell, we probably wouldn't even have to have one of those damned teachers' unions!!!
