Drivers license facility in Cairo to reopen
THE SOUTHERN STAFF
CAIRO - The Secretary of state drivers license facility in Cairo will reopen today, Secretary of State Jesse White announced Monday.
The facility, at 1203 Washington Avenue, had been closed because of floodwaters and post-flooding damage in the town. Tests were completed to ensure the building is safe to reopen, and for business to resume. While it was closed, drivers had been instructed to visit facilities in Vienna or Anna.
"Reopening this driver license facility will hopefully serve at least as a small step toward bringing back a sense of normalcy to the residents of Cairo," White said in a release.
The facility will be open from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
