NO SCHOOL IN CAIRO ON WEDNESDAY

Since Cairo Superintendent of Schools Leotis D. Swopes will not call off school for Wednesday, I will.

School District Officials always accused my wife and I of trying to run things. Well, this is a classic example of why...

The city in under mandatory evacuation and there are police at the 3-way stop (the lights) turning back residents who want to return to the city. Without residents and students, there can be no school. This is NOT going to change over night. What about this do you not understand, Leotis?

So...

Employees of Cairo School District Number One: When you go to bed tonight -wherever you happen to be - do NOT set your alarm clock. Sleep in...like the "big guy" up in Chicago. Hell...if you are a golfer, make plans to play tomorrow. If you are not a golfer, it's supposed to be a beautiful day (in exile)...take lessons!

Take it from Ron Newell...

THERE WILL BE NO SCHOOL IN CAIRO TOMORROW!

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Just as I was about to break my send button, the phone rang. It was Madam CAT President reporting that she just received word (third hand) that school has been called off for the rest of this week.

To paraphrase the song from the movie soundtrack "Fiddler on the Roof"...

Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles
God took up Leotis once again
Twisted his arm, knocked some sense into the rascal
Made him announce the obvious plan.
