CAT Tracks for May 9, 2011
MONDAY CSD #1 MEETING

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

The following report is completely factual with no personal opinions. It was compiled after conversations with CAT President De De O'Shea and District Business Manager Justin Miller. CSD #1 Superintendent Leotis D. Swopes encouraged the transmission of this information to District employees.

As reported earlier, the meeting began at 11 a.m. in the CJSHS Library. (Attendees listed at the bottom of this post.)

There is an "iffiness" to the District's plans because the logistics depend on decisions yet to be made/announced by the City of Cairo...namely when the mandatory evacuation order declared by former Mayor of Cairo Judson Childs and continued by current Mayor of Cairo Tyrone Coleman will be lifted. (CAT Tracks Editor's Note: This afternoon, the "iffiness" became "iffier" as Mayor Coleman delcared a civil emergency and imposed an 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. curfew on the city.)

Anyway...

As already announced, there will be NO SCHOOL on Tuesday. To that, you can now add Wednesday.

If the City of Cairo evacuation order is lifted by Wednesday, CSD #1 employees are to report to work at the regular time on Thursday and Friday. These days will be "staff days". Teachers will be allowed the complete time to work in their rooms in preparation for the opening of school for students on Monday, May 16th. (Bears repeating: Teachers, you will be "on your own"...allowed to prepare lessons and work on grades. These days are NOT professional development workshop days.)

However...

IF the City of Cairo does NOT lift its mandatory evacuation order, then the aforementioned plans will be moved back to a later start...and you will be notified accordingly.

Anything not mentioned above - like the last day of school, school banquets, report cards, etc. will be addressed upon your return to school. (It was specifically mentioned that the Cairo High School Graduation would proceed as scheduled on May 28th.)

Turning to payday (scheduled for Friday, May 13th since the regular payday falls on Sunday)...

The checks have been run and signed.

If you normally receive a "paper paycheck", it is ready for pick-up...TODAY!

You may pick up your paycheck TODAY (Monday) or tomorrow (Tuesday) at the District's Central Office between the hours of 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Any checks not picked up by 4 p.m. Tuesday will be mailed. (If for some reason, you cannot pick up your check during those times but you do NOT want it mailed, call Justin Miller at the District Office and make arrangements for later pick up. Justin will NOT be in the office on Wednesday, but will be on Thursday and Friday.)

For those of you with DIRECT DEPOSIT...arrangements have been made for normal delivery to your account early Friday morning.
