WHO'LL BE THE NEXT IN LINE? |
Why would anyone run for public office?
The "screaming headline" below is a classic example...
...of how the media will court you, encourage you, and celebrate your entry into the political arena...
...right before they skewer you, shame you, and bury you...lamenting your "passing".
I mean...
Media darling Michelle Bachmann announced her presidential candidacy on Monday.
Today is Wednesday.
Can the folks who "broke" this story actually look the camera in the eye and say with a straight face that they did not know about this story before Monday...sitting on the story until such time that Bachmann actually threw her hat into the ring?
Well, silly...of course they can! That's "their job"...they do it every damn day!
One thing you can say about the media...they are bipartisan in their scandal reporting!
For my musical selection today...
Former Eagle (sometimes Eagle?) Don Henley:
I make my living off the evening news
Well, I could've been an actor, but I wound up here
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
We got the bubbleheaded bleach-blonde, comes on at 5
Can we film the operation? Is the head dead yet?
You don't really need to find out what's going on
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Dirty little secrets, dirty little lies
We can do the innuendo, we can dance and sing
From the msnbc website...
Bachmann's husband got $137,000 in Medicaid funds
Presidential candidate has often blasted growing welfare programs
"Dirty Laundry" Lyrics
Songwriters: Don Henley and Danny Kortchmeyer
Just give me something, something I can use
People love it when you lose, they love dirty laundry
I just have to look good, I don't have to be clear
Come and whisper in my ear, give us dirty laundry
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em all around
She can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in her eye
It's interesting when people die, give us dirty laundry
You know the boys in the newsroom got a running bet
Get the widow on the set, we need dirty laundry
You don't really want to know just how far it's gone
Just leave well enough alone, keep your dirty laundry
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're up, kick 'em when they're down
Kick 'em when they're stiff, kick 'em all around
We got our dirty little fingers in everybody's pie
Love to cut you down to size, we love dirty laundry
When it's said and done, we haven't told you a thing
We all know that crap is king, give us dirty laundry
