CAT Tracks for July 17, 2010
A SWIM OF 1000 MILES |
...ends in Cairo.
Okay, I rounded off...it's only 981 miles, beginning in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 22nd.
According to the article below, the swimmer - Mimi Hughes - is supposed to "land" at Ft. Defiance Park at approximately 7 p.m. TODAY...Saturday, July 17th.
Anyone wishing to welcome Mimi is asked to be at the Point between 5:30 and 6 p.m.
Catty Editor's Note:
Someone might want to bring a pair of bolt cutters...just in case the entry gate is still chained.
From the July 15th edition of The Cairo Citizen...
On a not-so-catty note...
The aforementioned July 15th edition of The Cairo Citizen has a full front-page and (almost) full back-page color coverage of IL Governor Pat Quinn's visit to Cairo this past week to sign the Alexander-Cairo Port District bill.
So...if you are into "collector's editions", it is available locally for the everyday low price of fifty cents.
