CAT Tracks for August 3, 2010 SPECIAL BOE MEETING...MINUTES

The Cairo Board of Education held a Special Meeting on Tuesday, August 3, 2010 at 5 p.m. Below are the "minutes".

The meeting was called to order at 5 p.m.

Answering roll call were Coleman, Brown, Stubblefield, Gooden, and Burris.

No one in the audience asked to be recognized.

The Superintendent recommended some adjustments in the agenda...no additions/subtractions, just movement of items until after closed session. A motion was made, seconded, and passed to approve the agenda as amended.

The BOE voted to enter closed session at 5:02 p.m. (BOE Member McBride arrived at 5:08 p.m. - BOE Member Stubblefield left the meeting/building at 5:55 p.m.) The BOE voted to exit closed session at 7:13 p.m.

Requiring Action/Decisions By Board of Education:

• Litigation - The Superintendent recommended that the BOE authorize him to contact the lawyers to have them move forward with the litigation discussed in closed session. A motion was made, seconded, and passed. (Since I am unaware as to what the aforementioned litigation is about or who is involved, I shall refrain from catty commentary. I mean...CATs use attorneys. It's necessary and justified at times. Stay tuned...I'm sure details will be forthcoming. This IS Cairo afterall!)

• Personnel - The Superintendent recommended that the BOE hire James Colyer as Cairo Junior High School Baseball Coach. A motion was made, seconded, and passed.

• FY 11 Budget on Display - The Superintendent recommended that the FY 11 Budget be placed on display/reading. A motion was made, seconded, and passed.

A motion was made, seconded, and passed to adjourn at 7:16 p.m.
