CAT Tracks for August 11, 2010
CSD #1 TEACHER INSTITUTES

Once again, I will have to disagree with a former Cairo Superintendent whom I call "Friend".

He regularly takes me to task for using "Grrr..." in my catty commentary...insisting that CATs don't growl; that they "Hiss" or whatever.

Well, I've heard some pretty good imitations of growling for the past month with respect to "When are you going to publish the school calendar?"

Madam President can attest to the fact that we have tried to get a copy.

DISCLAIMER: CAT Tracks cannot publish that which does not exist. (Oh, we are free with our opinions on the topic of the day, but we don't invent documents and try to pass them off as official district publications.

Also heard "growling" today about "Why doesn't CAT Tracks publish dates for summer workshops and faculty meetings?"

DISCLAIMER: The District/Building Administration does NOT have CAT Tracks on its mailing list. They send out notices to individual teachers (who may be far, far from home and their U.S. Mailbox during the summer); they do not send notices to CAT. (Oh, I guess I could holler over the fence to Mama CAT every day as to whether she has received any notices, but then I would probably hear growls that "You put out a notice about Cairo Elementary, but NOT about Cairo Jr/Sr High School! Whassup with that?" Plus, Mama CAT works hard...during regular working hours AND 24/7/365 with CAT sh..., uh, shtuff. Mama CAT needs and deserves down time...)

As for me and the complaints of growling CATs...

I have learned at the feet of the masters...all those Cairo School District officials who regularly turn a deaf ear to CAT complaints, growling, hissing, or whatever.

Folks..."I can't hear you!"

All I can say is..."What you see (on CAT Tracks) is what you get! (Feel free to check out the CSD #1 Website...MEOW!)

Having said all that...

I hit the mother load today!

Wandered out to CJSHS today to visit some teachers who were attending Day 2 of a District-wide behavior workshop. While waiting for the break, I went to the "Teacher's Lounge" (Yep, that's what it says!) to buy a soda. Glanced at the table next to the mailboxes and my CAT eyes did light upon agendas for the August 19th and August 20 teacher institutes...kicking off the 2010-2011 School Year.

Well, my sticky paws did make off with same and you will find the results of my pilfering below. (Hmmm...CAT burglar?)

DISCLAIMER: I ass-u-me that the copies that "disappeared" (with me) were copies scanned and internalized by a CAT with a photographic memory who had no more use for hard copies. (Plus, I'm sure that the efficient office personnel will have extra copies available on the 19th and the 20th for wayward CATs who managed to lose them between today and then.)

So...

While waiting for the 2010-2011 School Calendar, you at least know now that the first day of school (for employees) is August 19th. A careful perusal of the agenda also reveals the location of the opening institute...CAIRO JUNIOR/SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL. Said perusal also reveals that breakfast for the 19th is "Continental", with the "Hot Breakfast" on the 20th (also at CJSHS.)

Now if you want specifics about the "menu"...

Call "Da Man"...not the CAT!
