CAT Tracks for September 15, 2010
NEVER SAY NEVER

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Let me be perfectly clear...

As has been stated in several previous editions of CAT Tracks, the opinions expressed below are MINE. They were offered without any consultation with the CAT, the IEA, or the NEA and do not represent the official policy of any or all of those organizations.

As always, you are free to agree or disagree.

PS: Vote for Pat Quinn for Governor of Illinois...the lesser of evils!

It is with heavy heart that this CAT eats crow...

However, better to eat crow than receive "the bird"!

If you are a regular reader of CAT Tracks, you know that I am no fan of IL Governor Pat Quinn. I have said - E-M-P-H-A-T-I-C-A-L-L-Y - on more than one occasion that I would NOT cast a vote for Pat Quinn come election day...EVER!

Then...

The mailperson cometh. She didn't ring twice, not even once. She simply, quietly deposited a tale worthy of Edgar Allan Poe into my mailbox.

O-H M-Y G-O-D!!!

Republican Candidate for IL Governor...Senator Bill Brady!!!

When teachers see his name on the ballot, they should think...The Anti-Christ!!!

With that said, I shall leave the rest to you!

Read IEA President Ken Swanson's "Commentary" and, then...take a look at the "Gubernatorial Candidate Comparison"

Bears repeating...

0-H M-Y G-O-D!!!

Reproductions Removed...I ass-u-me that I can still publish the link to the September IEA Advocate

So...

On November 2nd, this humbled CAT shall report dutifully to the polls...come hell or high water!

I shall NOT vote for Bill Brady!!!

I shall NOT vote for a third-party candidate.

I shall NOT (as was my plan) skip voting for Governor.

I shall swallow my meal of crow and cast my vote for Sheila Simon and what's-his-name.

An Illinois teacher has no other choice...

Postscript...

I shall console myself by dreaming of the future...a future in which newly elected Illinois Governor Pat Quinn joins his infamous Democratic and Republic predecessors.

A future in which Governor Sheila Simon stands tall for her fellow IEA members...
