CAIRO AREA LEVEES DECERTIFIED

Read 'em and weep...

Uh, on second thought, better hold off on the tears!

We are talking water levels here...

Did think of one positive...

The vacant downtown former bar...in the 700 block on Ohio Street, conveniently overlooking the Ohio Levee. You remember...the one that was supposed to eventually have an elevator, but ended up having simply a long flight of stairs...for patrons to navigate at the conclusion of their evening of imbibing.

Cops didn't need to worry about breathalyzers or field sobriety tests. Just sat in a chair at the bottom of the stairs. If the patron made it down...let 'em go. If they fell, cart them off for medical services and then off to jail!

Anyway...

The bar looks to be a good 20 feet in height, meeting the new building code.

Plus...

Fully on display is the added advantage of constructing buildings on stilts in Cairo. The building sits proudly...fully visible above the 15-foot weeds!
