IDOT: I-57 bridge to close for repairs

CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO (KFVS) - The Illinois Department of Transportation announce Tuesday that the I-57 bridge over the Mississippi River will be closed to north and southbound traffic starting Tuesday, August 16.

IDOT says the bridge is expected to be closed for three days while crews make repairs.

Marked detour routes will be in place for the north and southbound traffic. Detours include:

Because of the high volume of traffic, the marked detour is expected to be congested with probable delays. Drivers are encouraged to find an alternate route and use caution when traveling in the area.

IDOT says the Dorena-Hickman Ferry is another detour option. For more information about the ferry, you can visit them online.

For more information about the upcoming closure, you can contact IDOT Construction Engineer Keith Roberts at 618-351-5253 or MoDOT's Customer Service Center toll free at 1-888-ASK-MODOT.
