CAT Tracks for August 15, 2011 EARLY CAT SPECIAL

A couple of items from this morning's Teachers' Institute:

• Same-Old, Same-Old...Cairo Interim Superintendent Leotis Swopes begins the new school by repeating his allegation that white teachers can't teach black kids. Leotis updated his bag a tricks with a video that he obtained on one of his District-paid trips to a Black Educator's Conference...a video of the always controversial Al Sharpton.

  CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

Since I sometimes agree with Reverend Al and since I was not present for the video, I shall not comment further, except to say that Interim Superintendent Swopes is absolutely WRONG in his slander of Cairo educators.

But, hey...when you get hired back as Interim after failing as Superintendent, why would you change your evil ways?

• Jaw-Dropping...No Cairo Board of Education Members in attendance. A freshly prepared hot breakfast? Whassup with that???

Hmmm...now that I think of it...there was a verbal exchange at the end-of-school luncheon when Leotis designated the BOE members to be first-served. A lowly teacher's appeal that the retirees should go first since the luncheon was in their honor...and the response of a BOE member that "We paid them."

  Still...FREE FOOD!

Shame never stopped the Cairo Board of Education before.

  Bears repeating:

  Whassup with that???
