CAIRO HIGH SCHOOL
CHS 1995 EGYPTI...THE LONGEST YEAR |
WOW!!!
School into late June...
Just how much snow did Cairo get in 1994-1995???
If memory serves...
...not much!
Now...
If you ask me about "snow jobs", I could go on and on and on.
But, I won't...
I'll save my ranting for "Hellos and Goodbyes", where it gets personal!
Suffice it to say...
The Cairo Association of Teachers (after demonstrating much patience) voted to go on strike before Thanksgiving, fully expecting to have reason to offer thanks (for a contract settlement) by the appointed day.
The first day on the picket line, we heard a rumor:
"The District is going to shut the schools down until after Christmas."
We laughed...
Little did we know that the joke was on us!
True to their word (about the only word they kept)...
School remained closed until after the New Year, a total of 24 school days!
