CAT Tracks for April 17, 2010
OH-MY-GOD! |
As news keeps trickling in on yesterday's misadventures by the Cairo Superintendent of Schools...
The violation and the ramifications thereof may loom larger than first thought!
The incident of "trespass"...it was church property!!!
The Cairo Superintendent of Schools (in his official capacity as a state administrator) violated a founding principle of the United States of America when he stepped foot uninvited upon church property - the "Wall of Separation" between church and state, the origin of which is generally traced back to Thomas Jefferson.
Bears repeating...
OMG!!!
Fortunately for a District reeling from its latest legal setback, it will not have to consult with special, even-more-expensive, Constitutional scholars over the possible violations of the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution and the corresponding sections of the Illinois Constitution. Since the "victim" of yesterday's transgressions graciously turned the other cheek and dropped the criminal complaint, the matter has been resolved...
...here on earth.
However, as they say in the real estate game...LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION!
To trespass, with evil intent, on property legally recognized as a House of God...goes far beyond a simple violation of secular law. And...even though the "victim" has forgiven the trespass by his charitable act of withdrawing the charges, there remains One for Whom the "victim" cannot speak.
In keeping with my religious rebirth...
On CAT Tracks, whenever I have sinned, I have reverted to my Catholic upbringing...and offered three Our Father's and three Hail Mary's.
Since I have been known to engage in catty commentary concerning the Cairo Superintendent of Schools, I am now moved to offer a modicum of atonement.
Accordingly, I am going to offer my normal quota of Our Father's and Hail Mary's on behalf of the Superintendent.
To insure that God does not misunderstand my offering, I shall make a minor modification when I get to the "and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us" part...
Can I get an "AMEN"?
...and forgive Cairo Superintendent of Schools Leotis Swopes for his trespass,
even though his record is poor for forgiving those who trespass against him.
