CAT Tracks for October 31, 2010
YOU CAN CALL ME RAY |
If you are an Illinois teacher...a card-carrying member of the terrorist cell known as the Illinois Education Association, you received a couple of mailings yesterday...prepping you for Tuesday's General Election, pitting Democrat Pat Quinn against Republican Bill Brady for the right to officially succeed (imprisoned) George Ryan and (convicted but "appealing") Rod Blagojevich) as our next Governor.
WOW...
As regular readers of CAT Tracks will recall...
Yours truly managed to ruffle the feathers of the Bill Brady camp by using the term "Anti-Christ" in a previous post. The outrage was evidently strong enough that the IEA put out the word for CAT Tracks to cease and desist in such a portrayal...leading to the various "disclaimers" at the top of the CAT Home Page and at the bottom of each edition.
"Feathers"...
CAT Tracks Editor's Note: My choice of the term "feathers" should NOT be interpreted as implying that Bill Brady is some type of FOWL. In fact, it was not even intended to say that Bill Brady is FOUL, despite the IEA's recurrent slogan "Bill Brady: Bad for Schools". I mean "bad" and "foul" could probably be used interchangeably, but, REALLY...my choice of "ruffle the feathers" was simply one of those trite idioms/adages that I roll out ad nauseam. My fingertips drip sarcasm and cattiness of ample quantities without you trying to read between the lines to discern ulterior motives.
Anyway...
Back to the "wow factor"...
The first three images below (from the IEA):
(Have to admit...the Halloween mailing was a nice touch!)
The other brochure - arriving in an envelope with a Sheila Simon return address - may have been to ALL Illinois residents, not just us terrorists:
Even a website (for further dirt?)...WhoisBillBrady.com
I mean...who needs more than what is already revealed???
Mass killings of sheltered animals...dogs and CATs! Yikes!!! Talk about demonic...animal sacrifice! I've heard about those people...
The rest of the brochure (Paid for by the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen's Association) indicates that he ain't too people-friendly either!!!
In short...
Between the Illinois Education Association and the Illinois Democratic County Chairmen's Association, they called Republican Candidate for Governor Bill Brady "everything but a child of God".
Damnation!
I fully expect the Bill Brady camp to cry FOUL!!! If they felt burned by CAT Tracks with a readerships numbering in the 10s, then I expect a HUGE reaction to the aforementioned mailings...one to the 100,000+ IEA members, the other to possibly EVERY Illinois resident but, for sure, the same targeted audience of teachers. ("Targeted audience of teachers". DAMN! In today's "education reform" climate, that choice of phrase was unfortunate...)
In conclusion...
The title of this post..."You Can Call Me Ray".
Whassup with that???
As you should recall...
...my mind works in mysterious ways!
Calling Bill Brady "everything but a child of God" caused me to flash back to Raymond J. Johnson, Jr., a character created by comedian Bill Saluga.
Saluga's shtick as Ray J. Johnson is to become annoyed when addressed as "Mr. Johnson", exclaiming in a loud voice, "My name is Raymond J. Johnson, Jr. Now you can call me Ray, or you can call me J, or you can call me Johnny, or you can call me Sonny, or you can call me Junie, or you can call me Ray J, or you can call me RJ, or you can call me RJJ, or you can call me RJJ Jr."...ultimately ending with, "but you doesn't hasta call me Mr. Johnson!"
Sooo...
Mr. Brady!
(Mr. Brady's) Response...
Point taken, uh, Senator William E. "Bill" Brady, Jr.
After reading yesterday's mailings, I think I'll just call you...BAD.
Oops...almost forgot!
If you have not participated in "early voting" or "absentee voting", be sure to go to the polls this coming Tuesday, November 2nd, and VOTE!!!
My (reluctant) advice:
Better the devil you know...
"Proposed mass killings of sheltered animals in gas chambers" (SB 2999, Filed 2/4/10)
"My name is William E. Brady, Jr. Now you can call me William, or you can call me Will, or you can call me Willie, or you can call me Bill, or you can call me Billy, or you can call me WB, or you can call me BB, or you can call me BB Jr...HELL, you can call call me Mr./Senator Bill Brady, but you doesn't hasta call me the Anti-Christ!"
Guess it bears repeating:
I am Ron Newell and I approve this message...written and paid for by me!
