NEGOTIATIONS UPDATE

My apologies...

...amongst all the salad tossings and cookie tossings, I neglected to give you the latest news on the negotiations front!

The first official negotiations session...

...has been canceled by the BOE.

No new date has been offered or set.

It seems that the Cairo Board of Education has learned a lesson from these intense scheduling efforts.

Rather than risk the further embarrassment or ridicule of canceling a fourth date (ALL OFFERED BY THEM), the BOE will instead wait until they get their sh*t together before making any further "commitment" to negotiations.

For once, I fully understand...

In the words of former CHS Principal Carl Riley:

The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing.

The "main thing" for the Cairo Board of Education is to serve and please Leotis Swopes.

Ever since the BOE re-evaluated their failed Superintendent and stuck a knife in HOPE by re-hiring him as Interim Superintendent on June 24th, they have toiled long an hard to draw up a contract that Leotis would agree to sign. (Word has it that THAT is why the FOP canceled its breakfast meeting at the Old Home Restaurant in Goreville last month...Leotis had not signed/returned his original contract, holding out for better terms.)

So...

How could a lowly herd of CATs expect the BOE to focus on their wants, needs, desires?

Silly-assed CATs!

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

I apologize for the "silly-***ed CATs" remark.

I've used the term on occasion in the past, knowing full well that it was vulgar. I used the self-deprecating term to emphasize the BOE's disdain for its certified employees.

However...

After Leotis "tossed the salad" at Monday's teachers' institute to kick off his new reign, the use of that particular part of a CAT's anatomy takes on a forbidden connotation.

In the future, I shall refrain from such usage.

Returning to the scene of so many crimes...

As the audience at last night's re-christening of the Interim Superintendent's contract clearly heard...

...the BOE recessed rather than adjourn, so that they could officially escort (carry?) Leotis and his new improved contract to the Cairo FOP Meeting.

The Superintendent is dead...long live the Interim...

...LONG LIVE LEOTIS!

CAT Tracks Editor's Note:

What?

Dripping sarcasm is not enough for you?

Where's the rant?...where's the rave? you say!

If this post wasn't angry enough, hit the rewind button:

Not enough?

Trust me on this...there are volumes of rants and raves resting patiently in the CAT Tracks archives, awaiting exhumation.

So...

...surely amongst the multitude of epistles and gospels, there is one that will fill any void you perceive.

But...

When I heard the news today (about the third cancellation), there was no surprise...there was no flash of anger.

The only reaction I could muster was a knowing scoff and shake of my head.

These folks never vary from their tired old playbook. The names and faces may change (or return), but the games remain the same.

Bears repeating:

The theme song for the 2011-2012 School Year...at least for 86 more school days:

Way Down in the Hole"
